Hey all
There's a chance I may be moving to the greater Nashville area soon. Currently I'm in SE Michigan on a 20 acre permaculture homestead. I've built this up for the past 9 years and it's tough to think about leaving it, but life throws curveballs at you sometimes.
Looking at the cost of housing within a 60 minute drive to the south side of Nashville is rough. I have a big family too, so finding a home big enough on a couple acres seems nearly impossible. Aside from all that, I'd like to hear locals and their perspective on good areas to live. Just like in urban environments where there are good and bad areas, rural America can have the same quirks.
Looking for: Low crime, family-oriented, similar approach to homesteading and growing, etc.
Also, I know the bedrock can be pretty close to the surface. What are common challenges you face growing in this area.
I appreciate any input.
